| ‘The Gold Capital of the World’ Johannesburg is a vibrant, exciting city. The Kruger is South Africa's most famous national park and home to the 'Big Five'. |
Holidays in Johannesburg
Since an unemployed miner found a stone bearing traces of gold in 1886, Johannesburg has become ‘The Gold Capital of the World’. Thanks to this the city experienced an economic boom.
Nowadays Johannesburg rivals Cape Town in terms of culture, shopping, restaurants, nightlife and as a destination for South Africa holidays. Johannesburg offers a range of nightclubs and cocktail bars with live music, casinos and theatres. If you are a shopaholic a holiday in Johannesburg isn't complete without a visit to the city's craft markets, selling African masks, wooden carvings and wire baskets or the many shopping malls.
Holidays in Kruger National Park
The Kruger National Park occupies a huge 20,000sq/km, (an area the size of Wales), and is situated to the east of Johannesburg in the extreme north-eastern part of the country. Here you will find a great number of wildlife and you will be able to see not only the big five but also 147 species of mammals, 512 bird species and 300 tree species. Kruger is South Africa’s largest and most famous game viewing area and boasts excellent infrastructure.
Holidays to Kruger can be done on their own or as part of a multicentre holiday, combining any other region in South Africa.
